Today I found an article written by Steven Hyde, a missionary in Cambodia who has been here for a long time. I thought his article was very good, and I wanted to share it with you. I loved his emphasis on unity and obedience to Scripture.
That being said, however, one of the things that I would add to it is this: there is truth and thus there is error. “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven.” (Matt 7:21) What I mean by this is that there are wolves out there (Rom 16:17ff) who are teaching false things in the name of Christ, and there are people out there blaspheming the name of Christ by what they teach and by the ways in which they live (Rom 2:24). We must be careful to teach people the truth, which includes teaching them to avoid false teaching (Rom 16:17ff, 2 Pet 2:1ff, Matt 7:15, etc.) and cling to the Word of God and to the truths of the Gospel.
